How do I combat fatty hair? Find out the effective ways!

Just yesterday, you shampooed your hair and now it looks dull and not so fresh? Fatty strands of hair are a problem for many women. There are indeed quite a few remedies for this problem

The sleek look keeps gaining popularity because it is elegant, slimming and sexy. The sleek look keeps gaining popularity because it is elegant, slimming and sexy. The first step is to take care of your hair. There is no denying that hair can be quite unruly, difficult to style, frizzy, brittle and – worst of all – greasy too quickly. In fact, the latter problem can be solved with a little know-how. The sleek look keeps gaining popularity because it is elegant, slimming, and sexy

Fatty hair – the causes

Why does hair get greasy too quickly? The reason for fatty hair is usually the malfunctioning of the sebaceous glands, which produce too much sebum. This sebum causes the hair strands to turn greasy. Interestingly, this may be due to the large number of fine hairs that also have more sebaceous glands. It is interesting to know that thin hair looks duller faster than thick hair for this reason. That is not all. Hormones and genetic tendencies also play a role in our hair’s appearance. However, it is not uncommon for fly-away hair to suffer from poor hair care (i.e. using the wrong products) or from being shampooed too seldom (or too often!)

Choose the Right Shampoo and Conditioner

If you notice that your hair is starting to look dull too quickly, it’s time to take a look in your closet. It may be that your shampoo is having such an effect that it is time to change it. If you have oily hair, it is best to choose cosmetics designed for it. It is certainly not a good idea to use a moisturizing shampoo, as this will weigh your hair down and make it look less fresh more quickly. The same goes for conditioners

Dermo-cosmetics from the drugstore are best for oily hair. They will be stronger and have a better, more specialized composition than those available in drugstores. However, such products should usually be used no more than several times a week (it is necessary to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations) and on a daily basis it is best to reach for shampoos with a natural and simple composition – without silicones and parabens. It is best if your hair care products contain mint, lemon balm, black turnip, nettle, green clay, hops or tea tree oil

Home-made rinses for oily hair

As we know, if hair becomes greasy as a result of hormonal or genetic changes, there is not much we can do. However, in other cases, homemade rinses should help. Here are some recipes for such a rinse

  • lemon juice rinse: Squeeze the juice of a whole lemon and add about 1.5 liters of warm water. After shampooing the hair, rinse the cosmetic with the lemon juice rinse. It is worth knowing that lemon juice perfectly inhibits the secretion of sebum and is also rich in ingredients, which improve the condition of hair;
  • nettle rinse: Pour boiling water over five spoonfuls of dried nettle. When it has cooled down pour it over the washed hair. Nettle cleanses and strengthens the hair and regulates the sebaceous glands;
  • mint rinse: Pour boiling water over ⅓ cup of mint and wait until it cools down. Rinse your hair with it right after washing. It is worth knowing that mint soothes the skin, reduces sebum secretion and has an anti-inflammatory effect

The Proper Home Remedies for Oily Hair

The best way to treat fatty hair is to apply not only homemade rinses but also masks. The masks should be applied at least twice a week. Don’t forget to apply them to the scalp and not all over your hair. Here are the best recipes

  • baking powder mask: one of the oldest recipes, which is certainly familiar to our grandmothers. Just add 4 teaspoons of baking powder to a liter of warm water. Apply this paste to the scalp (without washing first) and leave for about half an hour. Then rinse and wash your hair thoroughly;
  • egg whitesmask: whip 2-3 egg whites to stiff foam and rub it into the skin. Leave it on for half an hour and then wash your head. The egg whites reduce sebum secretion, so your hair will not be as oily;
  • yeast mask: Dissolve half a cube of yeast in warm milk and apply it on your head for about 20 minutes. Then wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo. Yeast acts anti-inflammatory and regulates the sebaceous glands. In addition, they are a rich source of nutrients, including B vitamins
