Beware of the popular facial oiling. It can harm you

Anyone with a passing interest in skin care has surely heard about the ever-popular facial oil treatment and its salutary results. But the question is: is facial oiling suitable for everyone?

Facial oiling refers to the use of different types of oils for facial care. Such a procedure can be carried out at home for little cost: the price of the oils we can use ranges from a few to several zlotys, and some of them we often already have in our stocks at home, such as olive oil.

Opinions about oiling are usually positive. No wonder: they regenerate the skin and nourish it, and with the right choice of oil also help in the fight against imperfections. While facial oiling is generally regarded positively and most people who practice it agree that oils can have a beneficial effect on the skin, we must remember that with their help we can also do ourselves harm.

Is oiling the face harmful?

The answer to this question is not simple. It cannot be said unequivocally that the use of oils in skin care is harmful to the skin. What we must remember is to use the right oil not only for our needs, but also for the type and condition of our skin.

So how to use facial oils so as not to harm yourself? First of all, we need to know our skin, what harms it, what products we avoid on a daily basis, what skin problems accompany us. Dermatologists warn above all against using oil when our skin is acne-prone or prone to eczema

Although on the Internet we can find many opinions and stories that oils are supposed to cure acne, we must take into account what other treatments or products accompany such oiling. Specialists draw attention to the basic fact, namely: oils form a greasy film on the face, which clogs the sebaceous glands, thus clearly contributing to skin “clogging”

Facial oiling is also unsuitable for very sensitive and delicate skin. First of all, because such skin is prone to allergies: substances contained in oils can often act as an irritant, not to mention the fact that to some of them fragrances are added, which can sensitize more sensitive people.

How to use oils?

But how to use oils, when our complexion is not especially sensitive and acne-prone, and oiling seems to be a tempting option? It is best used in small amounts and in combination with a good moisturizing cream. Do not apply oil on dry skin but on the cream, this way you will ensure good skin hydration. Avoid the above-mentioned perfumed and scented oils. Do not use refined oils either – their positive properties are negligible.

Remember that not every oil has the same properties. The most important thing is to choose the right type of oil for your skin type. Thus, for oily skin we recommend black cumin oil, jojoba oil, linseed oil and hemp oil. The dry skin will definitely respond better to argan oil, apricot kernel oil or avocado oil. For combination skin, jojoba oil and raspberry seed oil or grapeseed oil will work well.
